Prepare Your Home for a Spring Sale Now

If you are planning on putting your home on the market for the spring season, you may be wondering what you can do now to make that process go more smoothly. Winter is a great time to prepare your home for sale, giving you plenty of time to objectively look at the interior and exterior of your house to look for what to polish up. The winter season is also the ideal time to begin planning your exterior upgrades or updates so that you can boost your curb appeal in time for potential buyers to see in the spring.

Here are a few projects to consider that will increase curb appeal and even boost home value.

Review the Roof

While not all homebuyers will carefully look up at your roof during a showing, an inspector certainly will. Assure your house’s roof is looking its best. If it isn’t, or if you know your roof is more than 15 years old, now is the time to go ahead and invest in the new roof before putting your home on the market.

Inspect the Gutters

Spring home showings mean there is a good chance home buyers will arrive for a showing during a rainstorm. There is nothing worse than potential buyers seeing your house’s gutter system buckling, leaking, and even flooding your home or yard. Your gutter system and soffit should be operating perfectly. If it isn’t, now is the time to fix it.

Upgrade Your Garage

These days, your home’s garage is so much more than just a place to park the car. Garages are now used as entertainment spaces, craft spaces, man caves, and complex organizational system storage. If your garage is looking old and doesn’t feature things like an epoxy floor, or electrical outlets, you could be missing out on a higher sale price.

Check Your Brick

Brick homes are beautiful and already come with a higher sale price than homes that are sided. However, your asking price will start well below average if your brick is crumbling or looks like it is in disrepair. Take time to evaluate your brick home, including your chimney. If you see any grout or stone issues, it is time to invest in tuckpointing to fix it before spring arrives.

For any of your exterior projects or updates, the team at Stanley Exteriors is ready to assist. Our professionals have years of experience working throughout Chicagoland and we are ready to make your home look its very best for the spring real estate market. Call us today to get started.
